"As a member for 9 years, I have seen this course go from almost perfect to absolutely awful. The awful was just last year and I wrote a review on this site about it. I and many other members were almost in tears because of what happened to our favorite course in the entire world. But miracles can happen and we're seeing one in progress right now. The previous owners and management are gone (thank god) and Sterling Golf Mgmt out of the Boston area has taken over. Things have dramatically improved in just two months. The course conditions are almost back to where they were 5 years ago with the greens almost perfect. The new staff is friendly, helpful and always willing to service you. The lounge/bar/restaurant is back in full swing with a pretty decent pub menu and its nice to be able to sit and enjoy a sandwich and a beer after playing. What a change from last year where they didn't even have running water or a bathroom to use. Dean, the new head pro, is a really nice guy and always willing to engage in conversation and we members like that. We don't feel like this Mgmt Co. is a distant; they're really sincere about bringing this place back to its original status as the best golf course in NH and maybe New England. It's certainly the most scenic. So I now rescind my previous review and do a complete 180 and I'm here to tell you...GO BACK TO THE SHATTUCK !!! Its worth the trip again and again. I'm not getting a @$%&! thing for writing this other than the fact that I finally feel like the suffering is over at The Shattuck and we have our old course back and then some.
